in her return: choosing yourself, everyday
we often believe we don’t have much choice in our lives. it can feel like we are just moving through the days on autopilot, scattered and hoping they go smoothly, hoping we can maintain enough focus to make decisions that support our long-term wellbeing. yet still, we catch ourselves repeating patterns, making choices that feel easy in the moment, then judging ourselves for them, only to do it all over again.
but we do have a choice. we always have a choice.
we have the power to pause, to notice our energy, to breathe, to see things differently, to meet the day in a way that supports us fully. that choice is not always loud or dramatic. often, it is quiet, subtle, and unfamiliar, because the easiest thing is to slip into old habits, old patterns, old ways of being. the familiar feels safe, even when it no longer serves us.
our bodies and minds are wired for comfort and predictability. they seek the known and the immediate. they push us toward short-term relief instead of long-term alignment. and that is okay. our nervous system is just trying to protect us from overwhelm. but safety in the moment is not always the same as wholeness in the long run.
some choices you have already changed, perhaps without even noticing, small wins in your daily life. others are shifting slowly beneath the surface. and some feel stuck, like you are trying and trying but your energy just slips away. this is normal. it is part of the process.
we all face choices every day. how we meet them, how we carry them, how we rise to them varies from person to person. what is easy for one may feel impossible for another. we are united in our struggles, but the struggles themselves are uniquely ours.
comparing your path to someone else’s is not only unhelpful, it is untrue to who you are. your rhythm is different. your experiences are different. your inner battles, your longings, your lessons are your own.
and this is where the real power of choice lives. in recognising that your life is yours. that your growth is yours. that your choices, however messy or small, are the way you shape the life you want to live.
stay in your lane.
trust your timing.
keep choosing again and again the version of you that feels most like home.
